Lunch Bunch

Children can stay after class from 11:30-1:00pm for fun with friends at Lunch Bunch for an additional fee (see Tuition). Kids bring a packed lunch and are able to eat lunch with other classmates and enjoy some extra play time. Parents can also choose to enroll their children in extracurriculars from noon-1:00pm provided by outside providers (i.e. such as soccer lessons, ballet class, music class). These extra activities are an additional fee that is paid directly to the instructor.  Participation is optional and not required for Lunch Bunch participation.

Enrichment

Enrichment classes for enrolled children are available from 1:00-3:15pm for an additional fee (see Tuition). During enrichment students participate in fun activities that support learning (i.e. science experiments, art, music, etc.) Lunch Bunch is required for those who want to participate in Enrichment.

Lunch Bunch and Enrichment are on a set weekly schedule and fees are collected monthly along with monthly class tuition.  Parents can select the programs that fit their weekly schedule by signing up for the number of days per week that is needed. There is no minimum number of days required, but selections must be the same days each week.

Curriculum

we pray

Picture
Fairlawn Lutheran offers accredited Christian education, from prayers in the classrooms to Bible stories and songs that teach the Christian faith. Students attend chapel every week – families are invited too! Children will learn that God created each child uniquely and specially and that Jesus loves them and listens to their prayers.

“She leads us in prayer at dinner with a prayer she learned at school.”

“I feel the respect and discipline children learn will set them far ahead of other children – the religious and educational head start is irreplaceable.”

we play

Picture
Research shows that children learn by playing, so hands-on experiences are an important part of each day. We focus on large and small motor development, dramatic play, and gym and outdoor play. Children benefit from daily art and monthly cooking class. Field trips and in-school programs enhance learning.

“You don’t find this everywhere – the children are learning academically and spiritually in the safest environment.”

“Teacher incorporates many ways to learn curriculum… if it can be done through art, music, cooking, centers, etc, she does it.”

we learn

Picture
In addition to age appropriate reading/literacy and math, we prepare children to be good students by working on self-confidence, following directions, self-control, social skills, independence, manners, and respect in all classes. Older children also study social studies, science, government and geography. Small class sizes allow teachers to individualize the learning experience, which is crucial in preschool and kindergarten, when children are at many different levels academically and physically. Each lead teacher has a degree in early childhood education or a related field and Fairlawn Lutheran School meets or exceeds the State Early Childhood Education requirements.

“She is well prepared for first grade, ahead in math and reading compared to our older child who attended public school for kindergarten.”

“My son was shy and nervous about his knowledge, now he is confident and willing to share what he knows.”

Parent Perspective:
"We loved that our son's teachers not only taught him his numbers, letters, etc., but they went above and beyond to reinforce good manners, how to apologize if you make a mistake, and genuine kindness to others. They also made each child feel special every day by stopping to look into their eyes and really listen to them.” - Dave & Jan

Parent perspective:
"I love the great combination of structured classroom and fun, inventive play. It was a great way for my son to learn that school is fun and to feel accomplished at it.” - Amanda
